1971 Land Rover

The Land Rover is a 1971 model.
When I bought it, it had the little four cylinder engine and a four-speed gearbox.
It was so slow on the highway that I had to do something, so I discovered that you could buy an overdrive for it.
Once that was installed, it was a lot faster on the road, but still no horsepower. A man who works on them in Reno suggested
I put a turbocharger on the engine. Only problem with that was an over-heated engine. There was a pyrometer installed in the instrument panel
and it was in the red most of the time. Next comes the Chevy engine, we put in a Chevy six. That worked pretty good, except that the floor boards
got pretty hot, so I put a bunch of insulation under the mat and away we went. I had that Rover on almost every mountain back road in California and
all over Death Valley. I also added an extra gas tank... The original only held twelve gallons. The extra one held twenty, and fit right behind the back bumper.
