1979 Lancia Beta Spider

A contribution by Matthias Zabel from Hamburg, Germany

Design was done by Pininfarina, but the car was built by Zagato in Milano. In the U.S., the car was sold under the name of “Lancia Zagato”.
Lancia offered the car from 1974 to 1981. In 1982 Zagato built a final series with a slightly modified styling exclusively for the U.S. market.
The spider has a high-priced cousin (or maybe step-brother): when Zagato styled the Bristol 412 convertible in 1975, many ideas from the
Lancia Spider were copied. That includes basic lines as well as some parts. The Bristol 412 uses the Lancia Spider taillights.
