1940 was a major change year for Chevrolet.
The new styling was called the "Royal Clipper" style, and featured a totally
new front-end design and new rear design. The Wheelbase increased slightly to 113 inches.
11,820 1940 Chevy convertibles were sold. In base form the car listed for US $898 and weighed
3,160 pounds, being Chevrolet's heaviest and most expensive car this year. Upholstery was in genuine leather,
with the top available in either black or tan. It was the first year for an automatic top and last year for running boards.
