1965 Mercedes 600

A contribution by Matthias Zabel from Hamburg, Germany

The Mercedes 600 has the works code W100. It´s been in production from 1964 to 1981.
About 2.700 cars were built. Many body styles were offered: On standard wheelbase,
a limousine was offered, additionally a Landaulet was realized (one example only).
Long wheelbase four door and six door limousines as well as Landaulets ( 429 copies ).
In 1966, a two door saloon was built on a shortened wheelbase. It was the so-called Nallinger
Coupé named after the leading development engineer, Professor Nallinger. Two coupés were built by
Mercedes Benz, one is still existing (located in Hamburg!). The design of the W100 was done by Paul Braq,
a Frenchman from Bordeaux who was responsible for most 1960s Mercedes cars as well as for all 1970s BMWs.
